Israel’s Chief of Staff has pointed out that Israel is the only country in the world that another nation – Iran – has said must be destroyed, and which is building nuclear weapons to do just that. Will Israel make a pre-emptive strike on Iran’s numerous nuclear sites? If so, when?

Lt. Gen Gantz said: “If Iran goes nuclear it will have negative dimensions for the world, for the region, for the freedom of action Iran will permit itself …against us, via the force Iran will project toward its clients: Hezbollah in Lebanon, Islamic Jihad in Gaza. And there's also the potential for an existential threat. If they have a bomb, we are the only country in the world that someone calls for its destruction and also builds devices with which to bomb us.
“But despair not. We are a temperate state. The State of Israel is the strongest in the region and will remain so. Decisions can and must be made carefully, out of historic responsibility but without hysteria. … Clearly, the more the Iranians progress the worse the situation is. This is a critical year, but not necessarily 'go, or no-go.' The problem doesn't necessarily stop on December 31, 2012. We're in a period when something must happen: Either Iran takes its nuclear program to a civilian footing only or the world, perhaps we too, will have to do something.
“We're closer to the end of the discussions than the middle…. The military option is the last chronologically but the first in terms of its credibility. If it's not credible it has no meaning. We are preparing for it in a credible manner. That's my job, as a military man. … I think the Iranian leadership is composed of very rational people. But I agree that such a capability, in the hands of Islamic fundamentalists who at particular moments could make different calculations, is dangerous."
God says: “See now that I myself am he! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand. I lift my hand to heaven and solemnly swear: As surely as I live forever, when I sharpen my flashing sword and my hand grasps it in judgment. I will take vengeance on my adversaries and repay those who hate me. I will make my arrows drunk with blood, while my sword devours flesh: the blood of the slain and the captives, the heads of the enemy leaders. Rejoice, you nations, with his people, for he will avenge the blood of his servants; he will take vengeance on his enemies and make atonement for his land and people.” (Deuteronomy 32:39-43)
The Jerusalem Connection says: At first blush, it could sound like General Gants is giving a mixed message. However, as his words are carefully weighed, Israel is ready and fully capable of defending itself. The situation with Iran is not “if” but “when.” And while the crisis might not come to a head in 2012 (However, I think it will.), the General is certainly right when he says, “We're in a period when something must happen.” And when that “something” happens it will be of Biblical significance. In the meantime remember this, “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:28)
Videos go Viral
More than 2.5 million people have viewed two installments of a video advocating Israel’s legal and moral authority to attack Iran.
The videos, developed and narrated by Ari Abramowitz and Jeremy Gimpel, American-born media personalities and co-founders of The Land of Israel.com pro-Israel activist group, warn that waiting for the international community to take action against Iran would be a dangerous mistake.
The first video, “Israel vs. Iran – Back to the Future,” has been viewed nearly 1 million times since it was posted two weeks ago. It says that “The Jewish people can never entrust our fate in the hands of others, and we want to wake the world up to the reality that the Iranian threat is very real and echoes the threat of Hitler in 1939.”
The second video, “Iran vs. Israel – No Fear,” has been viewed nearly 1.7 million times since it was posted nearly four days ago. “We must learn from our history and allow it to guide our actions during these challenging times,” it says. Within three days of its launch, the film had been seen by more than 1.6 million people.
A third video is set to be posted soon, according to the organization.
