It is amazing how gullible Christians wax lyrical over something called “The Alpha Course,” the Christianity-lite, judgment-less parody of Scripture. Alpha fails in every respect, from its claims to be teaching thousands about Jesus Christ to the idea that somehow it has revitalized the moldering carcass that is the Anglican so-called “church” – a Laodicean mess if ever there was one. The biggest, most disgusting failure lies in its warm embrace of the Catholic whore church, which has a whole team of false teachers promoting Alpha.
Check out the figures yourself: since Alpha started the Anglican/Episcopalian attendances have fallen off a cliff. Good. Unless stained glass windows make you feel spiritual, their churches are to be avoided, unless you have an historical interest in old ruins.
Note this: If the world thinks something is wonderful, if all the (mostly rotten) branches of the mainline denominations universally acclaim it, you just know that it is wrong, wrong, wrong! The Gospel Truth is never that popular.
People tell me of those who get saved through Alpha. Really? Saved from what, exactly? Sunday morning car washing? Surely nothing as beastly as Hell is ever mentioned in these cosy little gatherings? Judgment isn’t. The most dangerous aspect comes at the end, with the “Holy Spirit Weekend.” Here you open your mind up spiritually, a dangerous thing for naïve seekers to do, as all kinds of spiritual evil can come flooding in.
We knew a pastor who went up to the Holy Trinity Brompton madhouse that is the St. Peter’s of Alpha. Bizarre antics were seen, including people falling over “in the spirit.” This is dangerous, occult nonsense. If you are ever invited to attend an Alpha meeting, refuse. Instead seek out a good church like our own, Tongham Christian Fellowship, where the uncompromising word of God is preached every Sunday.
We have our own course. It’s simple. We call it Bible study. Of course, it doesn’t put money in the coffers of what are known as “Christian bookshops,” where the latest Alpha promotions regularly fill the windows.
If you want to know why we are so opposed to the Catholic false church, and the myriad other organisations leading billions to Hell, consider buying our books and DVDs, which tell the whole, Biblical truth. The books in particular are packed with references in which the Bible is its own witness against false creeds. We provide boxes of 48 books to churches in America for around $270 including door to door delivery. Contact us for more details. This information needs to get out fast, as time is short. Boxes of books can be delivered worldwide, but contact us for postal charge details.
One organization has been pointing out Alpha’s shortcomings for years: The Berean Call. Here is their latest, well-researched comment. If you want some informed Christian news and views, sign on for the Berean Call’s e-mailed newsletters. They will inform you - and warn you. Here’s the TBC article:
[TBC: We have alerted our readers to the dangers of the Alpha Course in our newsletter and radio broadcasts (see May 2004 TBC). It is instructive, however, to see how the Alpha Course has developed in the intervening years.]
NICKY GUMBLE TELLS ALPHA COURSE ATTENDEES: "GO BACK TO YOUR CATHOLIC PARISH" [Excerpts]
Nicky Gumbel, who also is the vicar of Holy Trinity Brompton Church (HTB) inLondon, often affirms the popularity of Alpha among Roman Catholics, as well as the identical nature of the program across denominations. In a 2012 interview with the Catalyst ministry at Willow Creek Church, Gumbel stated, "Alpha runs in every arm of the Church. It's growing the fastest in the Catholic church.
“There are a billion Catholics in the world-many in Latin America, and in France where 99% are Catholic. But the course runs exactly the same no matter the denomination. In Alpha, we stick to the foundational pieces of the Christian faith we all agree upon: Jesus, the cross, the resurrection, the Bible, prayer. What unites us is infinitely greater than what divides us.
“We focus on what unites us. We present a united front to the world. In every different part of the body of Christ-Presbyterian, Baptist, Lutheran, non-denominational, Catholic, Pentecostals, Bulgarian Orthodox, Coptic Orthodox-Alpha crosses all divides (http://www.willowcreek.org/southbarrington/get-involved/catalyst/interview-with-nicky-gumbel).
[The] doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church stand in direct opposition to those of orthodox Christianity. It seems remarkable that The Alpha Course has not had to change its program for Catholics when the Roman Catholic Church in fact anathematized the biblical doctrine of justification at the Council of Trent, which was held from 1545-1563. As one example, Canon 9 as decreed by the Council of Trent reads:
If anyone says that the sinner is justified by faith alone, meaning that nothing else is required to cooperate in order to obtain the grace of justification, and that it is not in any way necessary that he be prepared and disposed by the action of his own will, let him be anathema (http://www.catholic-forum.com/saints/trent06.htm).
Contrarily, Scripture teaches that man's deeds are as filthy rags before the Lord (Isa. 64:6), and that men are saved not by works of their own hands, but by the grace of God (Eph. 2:8-9). This is just one of numerous contradictions that exist between biblical, orthodox Christianity and the doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church, yet it is a fatal one. Its reality means thatRomestands in opposition to God's Word, and thus to God Himself.
If, then, The Alpha Course truly teaches the saving gospel of Jesus Christ, that men are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, how is it that it is found to be acceptable by a group that has condemned this same gospel? Further, how is it that a Christian leader, as Gumbel proclaims to be, would send individuals back into the Roman Catholic Church, a group that denies justification by faith alone and thus is by definition apostate?
In an interview with Nicky Gumbel, reporter Damian Thompson of The Spectator relates this portion of their conversation: But doesn't Holy Trinity sometimes use the Alpha Course to poach Catholics? "No! When they do Alpha I [Gumbel] say to them: do not come to HTB but go back to your Catholic parish. It's part of the Church and I love the whole Church."
So now you know- from the mouth of Alpha man himself! (http://www.spectator.co.uk/features/8789231/alpha-male/)
Our book Cults and Isms: True or False? contains much revelation about the Roman Catholic Church as well as numerous other false faiths, from Islam to Seventh Day Adventism. Our Tables of Truth set out what the false belief systems claim and compare these claims line by line with what the Bible clearly states. When people start to argue they invariably say: "I disagree." They had better take it up with the Creator of Heaven and Earth for what we set out is the Word of God, not our own opinion.
This book, and our other joint work, Goodbye America, Goodbye Britain, which charts the decline and fall of our nations, from a spiritual, political and financial perspective, with much research and facts you will seldom find elsewhere, is available from the web shop on this site. Also there, and particularly relevant to exposing the cults and false faiths, is a DVD recorded at a prophecy conference in Virginia, USA.
I am available to speak at churches in America, Canada and the UK, although need some notice, please. Contact me at email@example.com
Meanwhile, if we have whetted your appetite for the Gospel Truth, here are just a few of our other stories on this site about the Catholic false church. Who says that's what it is? Why, the Lord God Almighty, in verse after verse of scripture which contradict their false faith, invented by men.
