If you want a break from the holly, ivy and hogwash of the approaching celebration of Saturnalia, come along to our church tomorrow. I’m speaking and it won’t be the usual “Christmas message.” Our meeting starts at 10.30 at Tongham Christian Fellowship in Poyle Road, just outside Aldershot, and we will be pleased to see all guests.
Pat has written some well-researched articles on this annual beanfeast called “Christmas” and its pagan origins, all of them on this site. Read them and learn, for you won’t be told this at many – any?- of the mainline churches in our area. I will be covering some of this but want to major on the Magi and true aspects of our Lord’s birth, up to two years before their visit.
Here’s a hint: no donkeys, lowing steers, chicken etc were present at the birth of our Lord, peering into the manger as per the Christmas cards. There may have been some sheep around…….but the Bible tells us none of this. Most of what passes for the Christmas tale is a fairy story for the gullible. There’s a lot of them around.
Fortunately, our church consists of people who take the Bible seriously and listen to Biblical teaching, from our elders and other senior men. Come along. It may be a culture shock but at least you’ll get The Gospel Truth!
If churches want to hear some accurate Bible teaching, with a highlight on prophecy, I have dates available for teaching days in America next year. But the diary is starting to fill up with speaking dates in the UK and any bookings need to come as soon as possible, as for two periods in 2014 I expect to be in Israel as well as travelling elsewhere.
