Sounding the trumpet for America and Britain. Is the church emerging or submerging? By Alan Franklin.

This Sunday, Feb 16, I will be talking in our home church, Tongham Christian Fellowship, sounding the alarm and asking: Is the church emerging - or submerging? As the world falls apart and people look for the leader to solve all problems,  Antichrist is awaiting the call. Meanwhile the trumpet of the church sounds an uncertain note. We need watchmen and we need to heed their warnings. This is some of what I will be saying…

Punxsutawney Phil is a small furry creature called a groundhog. He came out of his hideaway in Western Pennsylvania to predict six more weeks of winter. He allegedly did this by supposedly seeing his shadow.

In the 120 years since the Groundhog Day began, Punxsutawney Phil has seen his shadow 101 times. However, Phil’s forecasting accuracy is low: his winter forecasts have been correct only 39 percent of the time.

Crowds of around 30,000 watched this show stopper, together with tens of millions watching TV round the world. People love their circuses and soaps.

Pat and I once drove by Punxsutawney on one of my yearly US speaking tours. I was on my way to talk about the coming Great Tribulation. I did not draw 30,000 people to our prophecy conference……

Our nation needs a trumpet blast. Here’s what General Douglas MacArthur warned in a speech to the Salvation Army in 1951: "History fails to record a single precedent in which nations subject to moral decay have not passed into political and economic decline.

”There has been either a spiritual awakening to overcome the moral lapse, or a progressive deterioration leading to ultimate national disaster."

Remember, the Queen, so-called “Defender of The Faith,” has not once withheld Royal assent from bills ranging from David Steel’s abortion bill in 1967 to last summer’s approval of homosexual so-called marriage. She has not hesitated in approving abomination after abomination – things God calls sin but are now the law of our land. The Queen even approved  the creation of a Muslim prayer room at Windsor Castle. No doubt the King of Saudi Arabia will reciprocate…..

The wettest winter in Britain, the coldest one in America since 1988 and the continuing storms are a judgment on our nations, for the vile abomination of homosexuality, the continuing butchery in the abortion clinics and much, much else. When a British politician said the floods are a judgment on the nation he was scorned. How ridiculous!  He was right – but serious warnings are not wanted – we are giggling and slouching into the end times.

Jude foresaw all this. He wanted to write about salvation but instead commented, verse 3 and 4: “I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only master and Lord, Jesus Christ.”

Jude goes on to warn against homosexuality, verse 7: “Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them. Since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.”Eternal fire is what awaits every unrepentant homosexual.

Meanwhile this is what the so-called Episcopal/Anglican “church” does: “Archbishops of Canterbury And York Write Powerful Letter In Protest Against Nigeria and Uganda Anti-Gay Laws.” This was a headline this week….

This is not a serious church in a serious society. However, our problems are serious. The truth is that we are in a more dangerous and precarious place today than we were five years ago. Remember, when money can’t be trusted, the whole system breaks down…the final crash prior to the coming world government and antichrist could even be this year although I am not predicting that it will. However, the head of a European bank has said that a financial collapse could usher in a totalitarian system. So is the church aware of the signs of the times?

We attended a charismaniac meeting in England. The talk was good, by a visiting Creation expert. It was what led up to it that made us all realize how low the bar is set in what passes for church today. Really bad music, an emphasis on money and alleged healing and lots of shouting about an “awesome God.” This is true. God is awesome. It’s just the lack of sound teaching that is the problem.

This is a society that wants entertainment, not serious study. We are told to come out of the world, not to conform to it. When the church tries to ape the world, it usually makes itself look foolish, like the middle-aged vicar joining in the youth club dance.

What’s our job? Not to amuse ourselves to death but to preach the Gospel once delivered to the saints….It is not “seeker friendly,” nor does it involve rock music, endless repetition of tuneless drivel and a focus on finance.

“for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”  2 Timothy 4: 3,4.

Britain is littered with buildings people call “churches.” Yet the western world is in a moral and spiritual mess, spiraling to destruction. So most churches are clearly not giving clear moral guidance, not making a difference in society – not being salt and light to a sin-sick world.

We are living on borrowed time. People need to know this, before it is too late: There are narrow and wide gates. Matthew 7, 13;14 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

The "turning to fables" by much of so-called Christendom is well under way as the age nears its close. There is a vast turning from the faith to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils as foretold in 1 Timothy chapter 4. Occult influences are sweeping mainstream denominations.

The Bible teaches that there will be apostasy, deceit and a great falling away and men’s hearts will grow cold in the end times which we are in. Showbusiness people and politicians mock God and embrace Antichrist concepts. The Antichrist spirit is alive and well, and growing stronger in its influence. The world wants what it will soon get – a slick, New Age messiah figure, an even worse version of President Snigger. The established church will welcome him.

I would have once said that most politicians and the media are the biggest deceivers and fools but now would have to include virtually all main church denominations. Mostly, speakers like me and Jacob Prasch, who took a teaching week-end for our church last week, are not invited to large, mainstream churches. They just want speakers who will tickle their itching ears...

Yet despite the general apathy towards the Bible, many people are obsessed with false accounts of the End of The World. They may be more correct than they know, in some ways. Because of the prophetic signs: Israel, the EU, lawlessness, apostacy and so on, our "departure" must be near —just like God intervened with the Flood of Noah's day and Lot's day, which was marked with homosexuality.

God has never poured out His wrath without warning. God told Noah to preach to the people that they were living in the season of the outpouring of the Lord's wrath. Noah preached that message for 120 years. He told people repeatedly: "You are living in the season of the pouring out of God's wrath." The response he got was laughter and mockery, just like today.

The Lord’s soon return is one of the world’s best kept secrets. Satan doesn't want any one to know about it. The average Christian does not know that Jesus is coming in wrath – wrath and glory. Judgment Day cannot be much longer delayed.

I believe the rapture, the removal of the true church prior to the pending disaster, will take place before the coming seven years of tribulation – The Great Tribulation, the worst time in the world’s history. It will be a real event likely to cause astonishment and consternation among those who remain.

The liberal media and nominal Christians will be hard pressed to explain the disappearance of hundreds of millions of people, some from every nation on earth. One reason for UFO stories could be that Satan is getting his excuse ready: The Christians were removed by higher beings in order to be re-educated and fitted into the coming New World Order. Sounds a bit negative to me….

The good news is that God is in control, with his hand on the helm of history – and He has a wonderful future worked out for those who love Him. The King- and the Kingdom- are coming. When we see the dire state of the world and society, it can be depressing.

The world is out of men’s control – but never out of God’s control.

The Book of Revelation is actually incredibly positive- but only if you are a Christian. It tells us how the present world will end – when the One who created it returns in triumph to rule and reign, bringing us- his saints- with Him. Christians through the ages have looked forward to this time- the time of the return of our Blessed Hope. It’s a paradox that as we actually move into the End Times that are prophesied, fewer churches bother to teach on the amazing events that are drawing near.

In Revelation, the only book which the Bible tells us brings a special blessing if we study it, chapter 22, verse seven, says: “And behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book.” About a quarter of the Bible was prophetic when written. Around 90 per cent of the prophecies have already come true and we now look to the final, climactic time when the last ten per cent are revealed as true predictions.

While there is yet time, we urgently need a return to the fundamentals of the faith. Clearly, doctrine divides. Catholics, Methodists, Presbyterians, Anglicans and Baptists cannot all be right. If we join together to march, which “Jesus” are we marching for? If homosexual priests are all right, then the Bible is wrong. If “priests” must be celibate, the Bible is in error and anyway, it says that all believers are “priests and kings.”  This is set out in great detail in our books, available  from this website on our web shop: http://thefreepressonline.co.uk/shop.htm

Since God does not wish that any should perish, He has given us sign after sign after sign to watch for. These are the times of the signs.

Let’s end with a message of hope.

Eschatology – the study of the end times - is full of hope, but it is bittersweet. The Bible is a book of hope. Hope is just an illusion to the non-believer, aetheist, pagan and the worldly, but to the Christian, hope is steadfast, sure, the anchor of the soul.

The non-believer is hopeless- literally: Job 11:20  "But the eyes of the wicked will fail, And there will be no escape for them; And their hope is to breathe their last."

 It’s very different for believers…..

Psalm 71:5
For You are my hope, O Lord GOD;
You are my trust from my youth

Hope is a central principle of Christianity and the word hope appears 150 times in the Bible, about half in the old and half in the New Testament.

This is a real hope, the hope that only the Lord Jesus can bring. He knows history in advance and the prophecies prove this. He tells us how everything will turn out. Our future is bright – if we make the right decisions.

Romans 15:4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope..

So Psalm 31;34  encourages us: Be strong and let your heart take courage, All you who hope in the LORD.

 He is our Blessed Hope.

 Maranatha- come, Lord JESUS.

  • The Saturday cults talk is based on the theme: We don't all worship the "same god" ! The cults and isms exposed.......

There's a lot of confusion in the church today. Many Christians believe the fantastic lie that "we all worship the same god." But there's a big difference between "gods" and God. One cult teaches the oldest lie, that men can become gods. Their top men even get their own planet (!) And which cult thought it would be a good idea to send missionaries to the moon people?

Using foundational documents and statements by leaders of false faiths and cults, author Alan Franklin is going to Kingsbridge to put some clear blue water between Bible-based Christianity and the cults and isms, many of which claim to be "Christian."

Alan contrasts the teaching of the major false faiths, and also un-Biblical developments within the Christian church, with what the Bible says. It’s an eye-opener. Alan says that as he and Pat travel in America and Britain it is obvious that even among committed Christians there are many who are confused by cults and isms.

After Alan’s talk everyone present will be unconfused, for God is not a God of confusion, but of sound mind. His talk is based on the book "Cults and Isms: True or False?" which Alan co-wrote with his wife Pat - their second joint book.

The Saturday Powerpoint presentation, which is powerful, well illustrated and fact packed, starts  at 3pm at Ivybridge The next day, Sunday March 9, Alan will be dealing with dinosaurs!  The service starts at 11 am and Alan's message, illustrated with pictures taken on Alan and his wife's travels, shows that dinosaurs were mentioned in the Book of Job. The talk is a validation of the accuracy of the Biblical account of Creation and is suitable for all ages.
