'That's the trouble with the world; people expect too much. I don't want to harp on this, but when I was growing up, we did not expect anything - and we were not disappointed!'

'That's the trouble with the world; people expect too much. I don't want to harp on this, but when I was growing up, we did not expect anything - and we were not disappointed!' Quote from Alan.

'TV shows and advertising have promoted a dream world which does not really exist, and people think they have to aspire to it.  They fund lifestyles they can't afford on credit.  But it's over now, in my opinion.  It is not going to go back to the way it was.  There are not the raw materials in the entire world to bring the living standards of seven billion people to the standard of Hollywood.  As long as we have food, clothes and shelter, we should be content.  That is what we had when I was  young and I can't say I felt deprived.'

Alan just made those remarks, and I happened to be sitting at the computer, so I am sharing them.  So true!  He said that just after telling me most of the world's big banks are bankrupt, which he has been saying for a long time.  Most of the government bail-outs are going to keep them afloat.  What sparked off these remarks is that Moody's Credit Ratings Agency has just downgraded the credit rating 15 of the world's biggest banks.  This is a very big deal which you will probably not hear on the main news.

But the good news - the Lord is coming back and probably quite soon!

As for banks, there are still good community banks which were not reckless and whose chief executives did not pay themselves tens of millions of dollars.  It is the so-called 'too big to fail' banks that are being bailed.

'I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.'
