Confusion is rife in the world because Satan is the master of deception - that's all he is good at! The best antidote to falling prey to deceivers, like cultists or those who claim the antichrist will be Islamic, is to know the Biblical truth. That's what we present in our books and in my (Alan's) talks. Today, sensationalist but deluded writers make all kinds of startling claims but you can easily refute them by checking their statements against scripture.
If you wanted to churn out a best-seller today you could go down a popular route, like linking the Middle East mayhem with a coming Islamic world ruler. Fortunately, that is not going to happen.
The book of Daniel makes it clear that the coming man of sin will be of Roman descent. We make a point of always putting the word of God first in our writings, which is why we do not speculate about these things but refer people to the Bible. That way you get the absolute truth.
