The British House of Commons voted by 400 to 175 last night (Feb 5,2013) to approve the Gay Marriage Bill. Once again, the nation spits in the face of God.
I am happy to say that our local Member of Parliament (MP), James Arbuthnot, voted against.
The Bill still has committee stages to go through and then has to face the House of Lords, where it will hopefully be booted straight out.
The shameful vote, an ugly smear on the history of Britain, is the latest in a long series of such smears.
Homosexual behavior was a criminal offence in Britain until 1967, when the Sexual Offences Act decriminalized it and allowed homosexual behavior between consenting adults in private.
Then came relentless moves to lower the age of consent. In 1994 it was reduced to 18 and in 2000 reduced to 16. They want your boys, folks!
2002 - the Adoption and Children Act allowed homosexuals to adopt children.
2007 - Sexual Orientation Regulations prohibit discrimination of goods and services on the grounds of sexual orientation.
2008 - Offence of Hate Crime introduced on grounds of sexual or gender identity
2009 - Same sex couples given equal rights to IVF - test tube babies
2011 - Civil partnerships allowed in places of worship
Much of this was initiated and passed by so-called Conservatives.
I believe we are living in the last days of freedom, and that the Lord Jesus is coming soon. There are so many pointers to this, and we have set them out in our books. It can't be long now, folks! The rejection of God is so complete that it seems like there is not much point in Christians being here any more.
We are living in the time Paul described: 'Evil men and seducers will wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.' 2 Timothy 3:13
It's getting worse and worse, and people are being deceived. They believe lies and they condone things that God calls 'abominations'.
It is clear that God is stepping back and giving up on our nations, as the Bible warns in Romans chapter 1:26-27, '...God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural functiion for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.'
Is there any way back for our nations? I don't think so. All we can do now is hang on to our own faith and try to persuade others to repent of their sins and put their trust in Jesus to save them. And do what Jesus said: 'Look up, for your redemption is coming!'
Endnote: Does this mean that God hates homosexuals? Of course not. Jesus died for sinners! Including homosexuals! Some of the early Christians were homosexuals, as Paul reveals in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, which says:
'Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, not adulterers, not homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inhereit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the spirit of our God.'
Yes, some of the first century Christians had been homosexuals. But they repented, which means to turn around, to change, to go in a different direction, to leave their sin behind and not take it up again.
This is still possible today, and we know of men who have repented and changed their lives by the power which God gives all those who put their trust in Jesus.
Does this mean we are 'homophobic'? That term would amuse me if it did not reveal such aggravating ignorance of the English language. A phobia is a fear, as anyone who has taken a course in psychology will tell you. So 'homophobic' should mean 'fear of homosexuals'. But it is accepted that it means 'hatred of homosexuals,' which is just plain stupid.
'Hatred of homosexuality', the behavior of homosexuals, is another thing entirely. God hates it. He calls it an 'abomination'.
The House of Commons has produced a decisive vote and the nation will reap what it sows. The crop it reaps will be horrible.

Mark 10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
And ‘one flesh’ is what two men or two women can never be.
