Christian bakers in Northern Ireland, who refused to make a cake promoting “homosexual marriage,” have been found guilty of “discrimination.” Judge Brownlie said that the Ashers Baking Company’s owners, the McArthur family, “broke political and sexual orientation discrimination laws.”
This is an extract from a story circulated by The Christian Institute: Daniel McArthur, who runs the company, said: “We’re extremely disappointed with the judgment.
“The ruling suggests that all business owners will have to be willing to promote any cause or campaign no matter how much they disagree with it. Or as the Equality Commission has suggested, they should perhaps just close down, and that can’t be right.
“But we won’t be closing down, we certainly don’t think we’ve done anything wrong and we will be taking legal advice to consider our options for appeal.”
This decision represents a serious blow for free speech and plunges the law into confusion. It opens up a Pandora’s box of legal cases like those Aidan O'Neill QC has already warned us of:
- A Muslim printer refusing a contract requiring the printing of cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed
- An atheist web designer refusing to design a website presenting as scientific fact the claim that God made the world in six days
- A Christian film company refusing to produce a pornographic film
- A Christian baker refusing to take an order to make a cake celebrating Satanism
- A T-shirt company owned by lesbians declining to print T-shirts with a message describing gay marriage as an “abomination”
- A printing company run by Roman Catholics declining an order to produce adverts calling for abortion on demand to be legalised. That was the summing up by Colin Hart, Director of The Christian Institute.
This is all part of the rotten legacy of recent governments, culminating in the disastrous decision by the wet noodle Cameron to get the so-called “Conservative” government to force through the legal right to “gay marriage.”
First they usurped the language, gay having formerly described a light-hearted, happy feeling, turning it into something that stands for what the Lord God regards as an abomination.
Then they hijacked the meaning of marriage, which now means you can, at least so THEY say, marry anyone – maybe soon, anything? After all, when the Bible goes out of the window, as it has gone out of our schools and colleges, any kind of depravity can be counted as normal. Well, we mustn’t be judgmental, must we?
Yes, we must. As we set out in our book, Cults and Isms: True or False? the Bible makes it a scriptural imperative that we judge morality against what the Bible teaches. Chapter 18, Judging:
“Don’t judge, or you’ll be judged!” This is often used to gag Christians, and it is taken out of context. Never let anyone stop you using your brain - your God given critical abilities to judge the truth of a matter. The New Testament was written in Greek and there are five Greek words for judging. Three types of judging we are commanded to do. Krino (pronounced cree-no) is the root word in most cases for judging. Krites (pronounced cry-teez) is Greek for a judge or magistrate.
Three kinds of judging we are commanded to do. These are:
Ana-krino - to discern
Dia-krino - to decide on a matter
Kritikos - to critically examine and analyse
“But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Cor 2:15,16 We must ana-krino - use our discernment, judge what we hear and what goes on.
Large amounts of money and political pressure are being put into promoting the homosexual lifestyle. What most people instinctively know is repulsive, unnatural, dangerous and evil is being promoted by politicians and perverts alike as just another lifestyle choice.
Unfortunately for those of this opinion, the Bible tells a different story. God warns repeatedly in the Holy Bible that adopting a perverted lifestyle, which is what homosexuality is, leads to disease, downfall, destruction and eternity in hell. That is not a fashionable thing to say. However, it is the truth, whatever the gender and truth benders would have you believe.
When I (Alan Franklin) flew to Israel I was fascinated to see, on the trip map on screen in front of me, that we flew over the historical site of Sodom. This was on a secular flight run by British Airways, so no hint of Biblical influence there, one assumes. Yet there it was, just as San Francisco stands today, world capital of homosexuality.
When we went there on a speaking tour, I was struck by the fact that a huge geological fault runs right through the city. As I say in our book Goodbye America, Goodbye Britain, "Sell real estate in San Francisco would be my advice....." Remember, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans just as it was about to hold a "gay Mardi Gras."
Does this mean that God hates homosexuals? Of course not. Jesus died for sinners! Including homosexuals! Some of the early Christians were homosexuals, as Paul reveals in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, which says:
'Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, not adulterers, not homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inhereit the kingdomof God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the spirit of our God.'
Yes, some of the first century Christians had been homosexuals. But they repented, which means to turn around, to change, to go in a different direction, to leave their sin behind and not take it up again. If you "hated" people you wouldn't let them fornicate their way into Hades. That would be hate, not love.
“Hate crime” is now falsely defined defined when it actually means speaking against evil. If you promote God’s way you are clearly guilty in the eyes of today’s politicians and judges. Here’s an extract from an article I put on our website nine years ago: [Author Janet Folger] observes that while there were 13,500 stories on the murder of a homosexual called Matthew Shepard, there were only 632 stories on the brutal murder of 13 year old Jesse Dirkhising by homosexual assailants.
The people who killed Matthew Shepard later confirmed that they didn¹t do it out of any animosity for his sexual behaviour they killed him for money for drugs. Both killers attacked Shepard for robbery; it had nothing to do with his homosexuality.
Yet there was massive newspaper and TV coverage of the Shepard case, two majorHollywoodspecials, three TV movies and a play, all depicting Shepard as a victim of an anti-homosexual hate crime. However, people like Jesse Dirkhising, who was bound, gagged and brutally sodomised, then smothered to death, by homosexual assailants failed to receive any such media coverage.
Similarly, the murder of Mary Stachowicz, a 51 year old Bible-believing Christian wife, and mother of 4, who was murdered by a 19 year old homosexual, Nicholas Gutierrez, for witnessing to him and suggesting that he could change his lifestyle, was ignored by most newspapers.
This mother, who was described as a deeply compassionate church member and soft-spoken, was "punched, kicked, stabbed and strangled to death." But that wasn't considered a hate crime. (Folger,The Criminalisation of Christianity, Multnomah Press, 2005.)
If you are a true Christian, read what the Bible teaches on matters of morality. God's laws still stand, whatever foolish politicians decree. And the Lord, who is coming back soon, will have the final word! His is the only judgement that matters in the end.....
