The media in Britain is going big on the deaths of two famous people, a male actor and a female singer/TV presenter. They are portrayed as such all round great people, but I wonder where they are now? The media doesn't mention that, but Jesus did. He said that unless a man is born again, he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. (John 3:3)
Were those two TV stars born again? Not that I ever heard. And what about you, dear reader? It is the most important issue in life, and the deciding factor in death. Fame on earth is unimportant as our lives here are brief. What follows is for eternity.
Jesus said there is a broad way that leads to destruction in hell, and a narrow way to heaven - through faith in Him as the son of God who died for our sins and rose from the dead.
There is no other way to heaven but that nrrow way of faith in Jesus Christ. No good works will get you there. It doesn't matter how much money you raised for charity or how many people think you are wonderful. You are either on that broad way or the narrow way and you end up in heaven or in hell. It is that stark.
How can this be? It is God's plan revealed in the Bible. God is working to a plan and a timetable and each of us has a timetable as well - a certain number of days God has allotted to each of us. We can choose to accept Jesus as our Savior and obtain forgiveness of our sins, or we can reject Him and go our own way. How do you cast your vote? For Jesus? He said if you that if you are not with Him, you are against Him (Matthew's gospel chapter 12 verse 30).
I cast my vote for Jesus in 1981 after reading through the first two gospels and part way through the third. I realized it was all true and that I was not at all on the narrow path, but on the broad way leading to hell. I knelt down alone at home and told Jesus that I knew His book, the Bible, was all true, and that I was a sinner. I begged Him to forgive my sins and mentioned every one that came to mind. I told Him He could have everything I had (He owns everything anyway; He made the whole world !) and I asked Him to please make me one of His people.
That prayer was the turning point of my life, a total change, a complete 180 degree turn. Jesus said he would never turn anyone away, so I know I belong to Him. And you too, dear friend, can belong to Him. He has promised to give eternal life to all who put their trust in Him.
You too can be born again. You can KNOW that you belong to Jesus and will be with Him forever. Get a Bible; read the gospels; repent of your sins; ask, beg Jesus to forgive you and to make you one of His people.
Or just carry on with your life, claiming to be a good person, but never accepting the Lord Jesus as your Savior. Just carry on along that broad way with all the other people who think they are good enough without Jesus and who are on their merry way to hell. Merry until the moment of death, that is. Jesus told us what hell is like in the story of the rich man who died and went to hell and was there begging for one drop of water for his tongue (Luke's gospel chapter 16). Hell is a place of unimaginable pain and horror.
The good news is that God devised a plan of salvation - through faith in His Son, Jesus. The offer is on the table. The tragedy is that so few people accept that great offer.

How I hope that someone out there will get their nose in the Bible, realize it is all true, get on their knees, and put their faith and trust in Jesus to forgive their sins and grant them eternal life.
