This report and comment is fromThe Jerusalem Connection, a good source of news and views on Israel

Like all of you, for the last two days I have thought of almost nothing other than Israel and the victims of Hamas’s bloody terrorist campaign. Burned in my brain are the images of the women, children, and elderly who Hamas murdered or took hostage. As

The Israel Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan called the Hamas invasion Israel’s 9/11. Other Israeli leaders compared the sof Sunday night, 700 Israelis were dead, 100 Israelis were abducted, and 2,000 were injured. Not since the Holocaust have so many Jews been murdered in one day.hock of the attack to Pearl Harbor. One thing is clear, like those two fateful days in America’s history, Israel's course is forever altered.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has declared an all-out war. The IDF will not stop the retaliation until it has restored the safety and security of its borders and southern towns. And the IDF will not feel restrained by any of the normal international calls for “proportional response” against Hamas. How can retaliation be proportional when Hamas terrorists pulled people out of their homes and murdered them in cold blood?

Where this war ends, only God knows. I rest in the assurance that God has the answers. I know God holds Israel in his hands. Still, I am begging God to allow the world the privilege to witness his hands at work in the world, intervening visibly on behalf of his covenanted people and covenant land.

I want to ask all of you to join me in praying for a miracle. Hamas abducted at least 100 Israeli citizens, perhaps more. With the fog of war, no one knows of their fate. Hamas claims that they even have high-ranking army officials. We know for certain they have dozens of civilians. The IDF had no choice but to launch a full-scale counterassault on Gaza. But knowing Israeli hostages are in Gaza has my heart on edge tonight. Please, pray and ask God to perform a miracle that the world can recognize as divinely orchestrated.

I am praying Psalm 17:6-13 tonight for each of the hostages in Gaza. Please join me in this intercessory prayer to the God of miracles. We join our our voices with their theirs from captivity.

I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God;
incline your ear to me; hear my words.
Wondrously show your steadfast love,
O savior of those who seek refuge
from their adversaries at your right hand.
Guard me as the apple of the eye;
hide me in the shadow of your wings,
from the wicked who despoil me,
my deadly enemies who surround me.
They close their hearts to pity;
with their mouths they speak arrogantly.
They flush me out; now they surround me;
they set their eyes to cast me to the ground.
They are like a lion eager to tear,
like a young lion lurking in ambush.
Rise up, O Lord, confront them, overthrow them!
By your sword deliver my life from the wicked.

Amen
