A look at revivals, healing and God's hand on those who love Him. Some thoughts from Alan Franklin.

We just arrived in St Louis after 20 hours travelling and an incident on the highway with a large plank -burst the tyre. But we have been protected and well looked after. I do understand about past revivals - we have researched all the great revivals. However, they were in a different time, when Godly people prayed and the church, by and large, understood much more about God's word.

God must be true to Himself. He cannot send revival to an apostate church, the Laodicean church of today. I say cannot, but mean this in the sense that the church is not in a state to be revived.

Few people do Bible study or have more than a superficial knowledge of Scripture, and the church is all over the place, from ordaining women and homosexuals to denouncing Israel, God's chosen nation. This is a church and country (I refer to Britain but this also applies to America) ripe for judgement, not revival.

I think the best we can hope for is that God stays His hand long enough to get a few saved off the rocks. This is not to say that revivals won't come in,say, China or elsewhere where people have a deep and simple faith. But western Europe? I don't think so. Also, to clarify our views on healing etc.

We believe God can do whatever He wishes and heal whom He pleases. However, a great deal of investigation and observation over the years leads me to believe that such healings take place quietly, away from the razzamatazz when so-called big name healers announce that "they" will be holding a great healing meeting. I think this is presumption.

I have spent many hours trying to check up on so-called miracle healings by star preachers who made a big fanfare of what they were doing. Like other Christian and non-Christian investigators I have yet to find any truth in the claims. They are uniformly false - and I have investigated many, as a reporter and editor. I refuse to believe otherwise until, as has been claimed many times, "the deaf hear, the blind see and the lame walk."

Please introduce me to just one such person. I have yet to find him - or her. However, we do of course worship a miracle-working God, a supernatural God whose is capable of looking after us in the most difficult circumstances. Our complicated 20 hour journey today, from Hampshire, England, to Heathrow Airport, New York and then St Louis, travelling by taxi, train, bus, aircraft, aircraft and then car, has provided many examples of His hand protecting us.

Pat and I are so grateful, not least when, in dense traffic in St Louis, we suddenly came upon planks of wood strewn across the road and hit one, as did several other peole. Our tyres blew out. It could have been a lot worse. But we had many God-arranged encounters on our way and, when things were going wrong, a Christian bus driver or a Highway Patrtolman would hove onto the scene at the precise moment we needed them.

Without God with us we would never attempt these arduous trips, in which we drive thousands of miles across America. We do it because we believe time is short. Darkness is coming when the Word will not be preached. The rapture is coming soon and then the world will descend fast into chaos and dictatorship - the time of the Beast, 666.

That's when many will get saved, the Tribulation saints. Some 144,000 Jewish evangelists, of all the tribes, will go round the world preaching - they are uniquely qualified to do this as they have both a background in the Old Testament and good linguistic ability. Before that time the Bible tells us that there will be a great falling away, not a great revival.

We must stick to what the Word says, not daydreams or wishful thinking. Deception is the hallmark of the end times- and it is rife in the church.Witness assorted recent fiascos, from Florida to Toronto and elsewhere. This is not a church where true revival would come - more likely satanic manifestations.
