Time to stand for Biblical truth. Stop being

BRITAIN: A BLIGHTED LAND by Paul Sherbird

'I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 'But even if we or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. Gal. 1:6-9'

I am beginning to wonder if perhaps these verses from Galatians have been omitted from our Bibles, so few believers seem to take them seriously anymore. Our land is blighted by another gospel, which is not another, it is the gospel of the so called "Churches Together" movement.

According to this gospel the Roman Catholics are right, the Quakers are right, the Methodists are right, homosexual priests are right, liberal Anglican bishops are right; in fact anyone who calls themselves by the name "christian" is right. It is alright not to believe in the virgin birth; it is alright not to believe Jesus is the only Mediator between man and God; it is alright not to believe that faith in Jesus is the only way to salvation; it is alright to say the Bible is not infallible; it is alright to say Paul only wrote for his time; it is alright to say man knows better than God! Where did this gospel come from? It came from those who said that revival will only come to our land when all the churches get together, laying aside their differences and praying for revival.

It comes from an errroneous and misguided doctrine that God will be pleased with such endeavour and be so delighted by the ensuing unity that He will send revival upon us. And the majority of the British "christian family" has fallen for it hook, line and sinker. It totally ignores the Biblical truth that our God is a holy God who is jealous for His own holiness and the holiness of His people. It is a gospel that ignores the truth that our God does not compromise His holy character, nor does He compromise the doctrinal truths of His word.

It is a gospel that casts disdain over every saint from Paul to Wycliffe, to Luther, to Wesley and many others who have made a stand for Biblical truth at great personal cost. Do we really believe that God's arm will be twisted by such horrendous distortions of truth and the belittling of His servants who gave their lives for the honour of His name? It seems to me that those who ally themselves to the churches together movement are also allying themselves to those who received a pronouncement of woe from the Lord Jesus in Luke 11:48 when He said, "You bear witness that you approve the deeds of your fathers; for they indeed killed them (the prophets) and you build their tombs".

Who are the fathers of the churches together movement? The Roman Catholics who murdered the Reformers, the Anglicans who closed churches to the Wesleys and persecuted his preachers, modern day religious liberals and post modernists who murder the truth of God's word and will soon turn their attention on the true disciples of Jesus who love His word and uphold it in the midst of this ungodly nation. Woe to you, God will call you to judgement and the blood of his saints will be required of you - "If anyone preaches any other gospel .... let him be accursed"!

Have we forgotten what it means to be the church of God? The true church is the "ecclesia" the called out ones, those whom God has called and chosen to be holy and fulfil his purposes in this world, to be his witnesses to truth and light: 1 Tim. 3:15, "The church of the living God which is the pillar and ground of truth"; Ps. 11:3, "If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" The church is to zealously uphold and maintain Biblical truth, preserving its foundations, not playing around with it and trying to see how it might be changed or adapted to the whims of our society. 2Cor. 6:14ff., "What fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?" ... "Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you".

Let's be very clear on something, the Catholics who believe the Pope sits on the seat of Christ, and pray to Mary are in darkness. The Anglican bishop who does not believe in the virgin birth is in darkness, the Anglican vicar who is a homosexual is lawless as is the vicar who tolerates, even recommends sex outside of marriage. They are all unclean in the sight of God and He tells His people, "Come out of them".

To sit down and fellowship and pray with such people is an act of gross disobedience to the word of God. Can it be any clearer? How can God be pleased with such acts and even - as we are asked to believe - bless and bring revival through communion with those who approve them? It is in direct opposition to his will and word, God will not, cannot bless sin and disobedience. If we really want revival we will prove it by cleaning up our own lives, by being zealous for the truth of God's word, by saying no to sin and evil, by rejecting communion with those who are in error, and by being willing to count the cost of standing for truth.

We will realise and be pleased that revival is not for man's glory but God's. Such is the blight the churches together movement brings to our nation, a cancerous growth that is spreading and sucking many in with its false promise of revival, it cannot succeed because it ignores God's call to holiness and mocks Him by compromising His truth. It cannot make true disciples of the Lord Jesus because there is no real love for His word, no contending for the faith against error, and because God cannot bless such a mish-mash of compromise there are no disciples burning with the holy fire of God's Holy Spirit.

The result is a blighted church and nation where God is neither glorified or worshipped in spirit and truth and the true disciples of Jesus become a small minority, mockingly despised as "fundamentalists". There is a call going up, "Who is on the Lord's side?" Those who are truly on His side will be prepared to stand up and cast this churches together Jezebel out of the window.
