One Saturday I (Pat) was privileged to attend a congregation of believers in northern Israel.
We met in the open air on a small farm, in the shade of a tree.
There were Jews from various countries, some Arabs, some gentiles and many languages. The Dutch pastor spoke in English and was translated into Hebrew, while within the congregation, people whispered other translations - Russian, Arabic, Spanish.
The sermon was from Matthew
18:1-6, when the disciples were arguing among themselves about which of them was the greatest. Then the Lord Jesus called a little child to Him and set him in their midst.
His words must have smitten the hearts of his friends, as they smite ours today:
'Unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of Heaven.'
The pastor said at the end: 'Our prayer should be: make me as a little child.'
That is my prayer, and I hope yours as well.
