The operation “Breaking Dawn”, lasted for 66 hours, and Israeli forces acted against the PIJ high ranking leader and weapons facilities in Gaza, because they had been planning a large and very imminent terror attack on Israel civilians.
170 Pinpointed targets were hit destroying much of the organization’s military capabilities, terror tunnels and weapons storage facilities.
Throughout the operation, the Islamic Jihad fighters fired 1,100 rockets and missiles, 200 of which landed in Gaza. 990 rockets crossed the border into Israeli territory, 610 landed in the sea and open areas, 380 heading to civilian targets were intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile system.
No Israeli’s died, around 30 were lightly injured by falling debris and accidents as they ran to the bomb shelters. The Palestiniansin Gaza
reported a total of 35 deaths, 26, were civilians, 15 who were killed by faulty rockets that failed to clear Gazan airspace.
The present Israel prime minister, Yair Lapid, gave a brief address to the nation once the ceasefire was confirmed to be holding. “Gazans can choose peace and economic development, but if they do not, Israel will defend itself”
Operation Breaking dawn was an undeniable success and 68% of those polled, gave high approval ratings for both the defense minister, Benny Gantz and Prime minister Lapid.
Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, dismantling and razing 21 Israeli communities, sadly Gaza today is being held captive by violent, and splintered Islamic groups with leaders who call for martyrs to die for their cause. Let’s pray for change in Gaza, for leaders with vision to rise up, after all, nothing is impossible with God!
