It's a slow fade

In Morristown, Tennessee,  we heard a very moving song sung in a Baptist church.  It was called 'A Slow Fade'.  It described what happens when people sin, but it also applies to nations.  Our once great nations are on a slow fade.

In the Bible, what happened when ancient Israel and Judah sinned?  The sins began a downward national slide, a process which very gradually led to the destruction of both, first Israel and then beloved Judah.  They were invaded by hostile nations, robbed of their wealth and most of the people forcibly relocated to work for their conquerors.

What were their sins that resulted in all this horror?  1) They worshipped other gods, when they knew full well the true and only God.   2) They murdered their own children.  3) They tolerated sodomy. What do we do in America and Britain today?  1) Our nations are full of the worship of false gods, but we are considered 'intolerant' for even discussing this.  2)  To our great shame, we murder our own dear babies.  3) We not only tolerate homosexuality, but  governments of the west threaten to make us teach it in our schools as normal.

We are on the slow fade and our nations are already under judgement.  Not a swift judgement, because judgment is God's 'peculiar work'. He doesn't like doing it; He would far rather bless us, but He is just and has to judge us.

You could track our slow fade like a stock market chart, an inexorable downward slope on the graph.  Is there anything, anything at all any of us can do?  I (Pat) believe the only thing we can do is to repent before God for all our awful sins and the sins of our nations and ask Him to delay our inevitable judgement so that we can warn more people who might just turn to Him and be saved.  That is it.

I am sorry that this is so depressing, but actually I have a cheerful message as well.  There is a way of escape.  There is hope.  Our hope is in the only One who can help us, Jesus Christ.  He is the Savior and He died for sinners, not for good people, because no one is good enough.

This is serious, folks; we are getting down to the wire.  God does not forever put up with sin, and we do not live forever.  There comes a time and a day and that is it.  You could make your eternal future certain and sure by trusting today in God's Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.  He said:  'If you believe in Me, you have eternal life.' (John 6:47) Will you not put your trust in Him today?

There are many, many definite proofs that the Bible is accurate in every respect, and that the Lord Jesus is the only way to heaven.  Do some research! Find out!  Read the New Testament for yourself! Use your brain! Seek and you will find! And when you do, put your trust in the one and only Savior of the world.  Set your true course for Heaven!  The Lord promises to welcome in all who put their faith in Him.

Not only that, but the Bible tells us that we will also see 1,000 good years on earth, the glorious Millennial reign of the Lord Jesus.  What better news could we have, such a glorious hope and not only a hope, but a certainty.  Why not make today your day to come to Jesus Christ and ask Him to forgive your sins and make you one of His people?  Or then again, you can carry on the downward slide, the slow fade...
