The bride is making herself ready! The Bible pictures the church, all Christians throughout the ages, as a bride getting ready for her Bridegroom – the Lord Jesus. And the Book of Revelation, Chapter 19 verse 8 tells us what we will be wearing. ‘It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
Bible commentaries tell us that we will most likely have two garments – an inner one which is the robe of righteousness given to every believer at the time of salvation, and an outer robe adorned with our good deeds done in the name of Jesus. We will wear these for eternity. This concentrates the mind!
Recently we saw the royal wedding dress, beautiful in earthly terms, but a filthy rag in comparison to the robes Christians will wear when they meet the Lord. Are you adorning your robe with some good deed today, dear Christian? Ephesians 2:10 says this: ‘We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we would walk in them.’
