The recent science documentaries are fascinating in that they so powerfully confirm the Bible, particularly creation, Noah's Flood, and the final end of the universe.
There is a lot going on in the world of science. They are actively searching and finding hundreds of new planets; there is a new rover trundling around Mars; DNA research continues etc. And if you watch the latest science news as a believer in Jesus, accepting the Bible as literal, the news is very exciting. As one scientist after another brings out new discoveries, I sit there thinking: 'Yes! You're nearly there! Read the Bible! Everything you just said is confirming the truths in the Bible!'
Here are a few things recently.
A scientist involved in the search for earth-like planets: 'We are looking for heaven, but we keep finding hell.' Well, of course! There is no life out there. The earth was specifically designed to support life. The stars were not created until Day Four (Genesis 1:16) and they are there to give light to the earth (Gen 1:17). Even the furthest stars in some way contribute to the light that reaches earth. Any planets found circling those stars are going to be completely barren.
A scientist commenting on the precision of our earth's orbit: 'The orbit is the reason we are here.' Just a little nearer the sun and we would fry; a little further away and we would freeze. Other orbits they are finding out in space are described as 'crazy'.
A scientist commenting on geology: 'Below me are green and bluish grey rocks that clearly suggest the environment was wet; those rocks are littered with fossils. Just above that layer the rocks are red, an indication of rapid drying and warming...the red rocks are a dead zone....nothing...no fossils...virtually nothing left on earth....and not just here; the dead zone is on every continent.' So obvious to a believer! So mysterious to someone who does not accept the simple literal truth of Noah's Flood. The fossils were formed in the Flood; life was virtually wiped out all over the earth; no fossils much since then because God promised never again to send a world wide Flood.
Bill Gates, Microsoft genius: 'DNA is like a computer program, but far, far more advanced than any software ever created.' And Who do you think wrote that program, Bill?
Black holes: they now know there is a 'supermassive' black hole at the center of our Milky Way galaxy, as big as 380 million of our sun, which itself is 1,000,000 times as big as earth. That is one beeeeeg hole! If anything gets too near, it is sucked in and disappears. Well, how very interesting. The Book of Revelation tells us that one day the heavens will be rolled up like a scroll (Rev 6:14). It is even in the Old Testament (Isaiah 34:4). Now we know the mechanism the Lord has put in place which will roll that scroll! Yikes, I'm so glad I'll be out of here by then! His beloved Word comes to our rescue, as He tells us of His great plan for new heavens and a new earth in the Book of Revelation 21:1. How good God is to tell us the beginning and the end of this present age...and the wonder of the age to come.
Be comforted, dear Christians! God's Word, the Bible, is true and will stand. Jesus said that heaven and earth WILL pass away, but His Word will never pass away. Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33. And what is His word for us? 'If you believe in Me, you HAVE eternal life.' John 6:47.
If you have never accepted Jesus Christ into your life, now is the time. Today is the day of salvation. Here is a good prayer: 'Lord Jesus, I have sinned. I know what is right and wrong and I have done some bad things, thought bad things, said bad things. (Tell Him what they are; He knows already, of course, but you need to repent). Please forgive me. Please come into my heart. Please make me one of your people.'
