Scientists are claiming that the universe is infinite - sorry, guys, you're wrong on this one! by Pat Franklin

I am always interested in the latest TV science programs, which so often prove the Bible correct - not that the scientists involved realize that!   Then there are the programs which send me back to the Bible, asking the Lord: 'What do You say about this?'

A recent program featured experts who claimed that the universe is infinite.  Whoa!  Infinite?  I had a little think about that, and then remembered the scriptures about the heavens being rolled up like a scroll.  A scroll has a beginning and an end; it is not infinite.

Then there is the fact that the Lord has numbered all the stars.  He has even named each of them, so there is a finite number of stars.  And don't forget the Book of Revelation - the heavens and the earth are going to pass away and new heavens and a new earth created.

So - no, the universe is really, really big, but it is not infinite.

Here are some pertinent scriptures:

Isaiah 34:4 'And all the host of heaven will wear away, and the sky will be rolled up like a scroll; all their hosts will also wither away as a leaf withers from the fig tree.'

Jeremiah 33:22 'As the host of heaven cannot be counted ...' (not by us anyway!)

Psalm 147:4  'He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them...' If God counts them, there is a finite number.

Book of Revelation 21:l 'Then I saw a new heaven and new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.'

Romans 8:21:  '...creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption...for we know that the whole creation groans and suffers ...'

Creation itself, the entire created universe...it's all going.  The apostle Peter tells us:  '...the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and the destruction of ungodly men.'  2 Peter 3:7

The big question is:  are you ready to meet the Lord when He suddenly comes?  Have you accepted the Lord Jesus into your heart and put your trust in Him?  Today is a good day to settle accounts with God by acknowledging His Son, Jesus, as your Lord and Savior.  Acknowledging Jesus is the only way to be accepted by the Father, for Jesus told us in John 14:  No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Won't you consider this today, the most important decision of your life?  If you do not accept Jesus, you reject Him.  There is no middle ground.

A good prayer:  'Dear God, I want to know You. I want to be right with You. I want to settle accounts with You.  I have committed sins and broken Your commandments.  The Bible teaches that that there is no forgiveness without the shedding of blood, because sin is so awful that nothing else can pay its penalty.  Jesus, Your Son, died and shed His blood as a payment for our sins.

Lord Jesus, I believe this, and I accept that You died in my place to pay for my sins.  Please forgive me, Lord Jesus, and let Your blood be applied to my horrible sins, so that my slate is wiped clean, and I will then be acceptable to Your Father.  Please make me one of Your people.'

How I hope that someone out there will pray that and mean it and come to know the Savior of the world as their personal Savior. I prayed something like that in 1981 and have belonged to Jesus ever since.  You can too!  What are you waiting for?  Or will you wait until the universe is being rolled up and men everywhere are having heart attacks from the terror of it?  It will be too late by then.   The time for decision will be past.  The chance of salvation will be gone.  It will be too late.

Don't put it off.  Ask Jesus into your heart today.  Don't let Satan keep his grip on you.  He knows he is going into the Lake of Fire forever; that is why he tries to keep people from studying the Book of Revelation!  He will be there burning forever - but you don't have to go there!

There is a cosmic battle going on.  Satan hates you and wants your soul in Hell.  Jesus died to save you.  Choose this day who you will serve, and I hope it will be the Lord Jesus Christ!

But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. (Paul’s comment in his letter to the Galatians shows that Peter was not the ‘first pope’ – nor was anyone else.)
